The materials on Kindred are provided on an 'as is' basis. Kindred makes no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaims and negates all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights.
In no event shall Kindred or its suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the materials on Kindred, even if we or an authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage.
The materials appearing on Kindred could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. Kindred does not warrant that any of the materials on our website are accurate, complete, or current. Kindred may make changes to the materials contained on its website at any time without notice.
Kindred has not reviewed all of the sites linked to its website and is not responsible for the contents of any such linked site. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement by Kindred of the site. Use of any such linked website is at the user's own risk.

You retain all rights to content you upload to Kindred. By uploading content, you grant Kindred a worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving our services. Uploaded media is stored in off-site encrypted object storage, separate from the application (see "Data Storage & Security" below). When you delete your account, text-based records are removed from our database and your media files are queued for secure automated deletion. Contact support if you need all media fully removed.
Your data is stored across two separate, secured systems: an application database for your account, family links, text content, vault entries, and settings; and off-site encrypted object storage (Cloudflare R2) for your photos, videos, voice recordings, and uploaded documents. Media is kept in a dedicated storage system that is separate from the servers that run the app and the website you use, which reduces risk and improves durability.
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and media is encrypted at rest by the storage provider. Private files are never publicly listed — they can only be accessed through short-lived, signed links issued on demand and tied to your authenticated session.
Access is strictly scoped by family and by user. Each family's media is stored under its own isolated namespace, and access is enforced on every request. You can only ever see your own family's content — no other family or user can access your photos, recordings, vault, or letters. Items you mark as private are visible only to you. The off-site storage is seamless to use — you won't notice any difference when viewing or uploading.
Kindred may use AI to generate optional prompt suggestions to inspire you to preserve family memories. These suggestions are for inspiration only and are not a substitute for your own memories, stories, or judgement. You are responsible for the content you choose to write and save. Kindred does not guarantee that AI-generated suggestions are accurate, appropriate, or relevant to your family. AI prompts are not legal, medical, financial, or emergency advice — always consult a qualified professional for important decisions. Your stored content is not sent to the AI model for prompt generation; only a generic instruction is used.

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that location.
Kindred is a family storytelling and memory-keeping application. It is not a legal, financial, or security service. The Vault is a private organisational tool for your personal notes — it is not an encrypted document vault, a will replacement, or a legal executor service. Executor access requires passcode verification, evidence upload, and manual review by a Kindred administrator. If approved, the administrator chooses which specific vault sections to release — access is read-only, scoped, and revocable. Nothing unlocks automatically. Kindred does not automatically verify death. Passcode verification confirms email access only, not legal authority. Kindred is not a will, probate service, legal executor service, death verification service, or official legal vault. Letters can be sent to recipients by email after explicit author confirmation (date-based and manual letters) or after manual admin review and approval (on-death letters). On-death release is manual-review only — Kindred does not automatically send, release, or verify death. Letters are not legal documents. For legal, financial, or estate planning matters, consult a qualified professional. Sensitive items such as passwords and crypto seed phrases should not be stored in Kindred — use a dedicated secure storage service.
